Christ the Great Hierarch — Orthodox Devotional Panel — Late 18th / Early 19th Century

An Orthodox devotional panel depicting Christ as the Great Hierarch, or High Priest. Painted on a single wooden board, the image combines a gilded halo, ornamental detail, and the formal frontal presentation associated with this subject.

The panel is catalogued provisionally to the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century. Its precise workshop, geographic origin, and date have not been independently established.

Dimensions approximately 15½ inches high × 11½ inches wide × 1½ inches deep.

Condition: Surface craquelure and an existing structural crack with a rear stabilization are reported. The illustrated later metal and decorative elements accompany the panel. UV observation alone does not establish that a surface is original or entirely free of restoration.
