Signed Pâte de Verre Medallion with Original Silk Tassel
A rare, museum-caliber pâte de verre pendant by French glass master Gabriele Argy-Rousseau (1885–1953). This round medallion features a vivid hydrangea floral motif in translucent violet, green, and white tones — crafted using the intricate pâte de verre (glass paste) technique. The detail and shading evoke living blooms suspended in crystalline form.
The pendant retains its original silk cord and tassel, and bears the artist’s signature “G. ARGY-ROUSSEAU” molded directly into the surface — a hallmark of authenticity. Accompanied by the original silk-lined presentation sleeve, stamped with G. Argy-Rousseau’s interlocking GAR monogram — a rare survival that strengthens authenticity and historic integrity. This piece is fully documented in Bloch-Dermant’s 1990 catalogue raisonné, entry no. 21.06.
