Val Waugh Hand Carved Mallard Drake Duck Decoy Glass Eyes

Beautiful vintage mallard drake attributed to wildlife carver Val Waugh, individually hand-carved and hand-painted with inset glass eyes.

The carving features the characteristic dark green head, warm chestnut breast, pale body, blue speculum feathers, and layered carved wings of the male mallard. Fine feather lines, subtle color transitions, and carefully shaped overlapping wing and tail feathers give the sculpture considerable depth and presence.

The underside bears a handwritten “Loos” inscription. The precise relationship of this inscription to the maker or a former owner is unknown; it is shown clearly in the photographs.
