An autograph letter signed “Wm: White,” dated Philadelphia, February 20, 1825, by William White, the first Bishop of Pennsylvania.
The correspondence discusses a financial matter concerning “Godwin’s Bond” and names Philip Church as a recipient of funds. Church was the son of John Barker Church and Angelica Schuyler, giving the letter a connection to the Hamilton–Schuyler family circle. References to Detroit and Geneva place the discussion within the geography of the early American republic.
Single sheet folded into two leaves. Private collection provenance.
Condition: Light foxing and marginal moisture staining, with the text described as intact and legible. Please review the photographs, including the signature and complete letter.
