Railroad Engineering Archive 1923 GE Train Tests W&LE Original Files

A group of railroad engineering records covering General Electric locomotive testing and a later Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway crossing-protection project.

The General Electric material concerns high-speed locomotive tests at Erie, Pennsylvania, on December 4–5, 1923. It includes photographs, folding drawings, electrical diagrams, and performance material relating to locomotives for the Paris–Orléans and Mexican railways.

The Wheeling & Lake Erie material dates from 1947–1948 and concerns automatic warning protection at Eastport Road, Scio, Ohio, Report No. 4069. Correspondence, engineering memoranda, accounting records, routing slips, and folding signal plans document the project.

Condition: Toning, folds, edge wear, and handling consistent with working engineering records. Offered as the group illustrated; no assertion of complete departmental records is made.
